A wide angle view of Elmira Street, Lewisham. looking towards the Barratt Homes Renaissance Development and Cornmill Gardens

Renaissance is a contemporary development in the heart of Lewisham featuring 788 apartments, a state-of-the-art leisure centre, 24-hour concierge, landscaped communal gardens and residents' roof terrace with fantastic London views. It contains very little "affordable accommodation" for local people and mainly caters for the financial sector workers who have access to Canary Wharf via the DLR. It is part of a huge profit making development scheme called the Lewisham Gateway Project. Which was given the go ahead by Lewisham Council, despite strong opposition from the local population. The main n objections being the height and high-density massing of the scheme. Also the general lack of "affordable" housing. Cornmill Gardens is an open space for Lewisham Town Centre, providing residents access to the River Ravensbourne, which has been released from its concrete walls.
