Thorburn Valentine Wax Bean. This is an improved Extra Early Valentine Bean with round wax pods. It grows only about 15 inches high, with a strong stalk and an abundance of foliage. It is without any exception the earliest Wax Bean in use, being even earlier than Refugee Wax. Beans planted on June 18 produced pods four inches long by July 25, and on Aug. 1, half a crop could be picked. The pods are very meaty, and with so very little string that they may justly be called stringless. Certainly no other Bean has less stiing or less hard shell to the pod as long as it is suitable for cook- ing. It is the best quality for snap Beans of any Wax Bean in use. It is remarka- bly free from rust, and lemains a long time without becoming tough. It is enormously productive and the pods are held well up from the grour d. Pkt., .10.; qt, .30. Beet, Crosby's Egyptian. As an early market beet this variety has no equal. It is an improvement on the original Thorburn Valentino wax Bean. Egyptian made by the late Josiah Crosby, of Arlington, who devoted much time and care for many years to perfecting this strain. It is much thicker than the original strain, quite as early, of better color and quality, besides being smoother. We have no hesitation in pronouncing this the best early beet yet offered.
