Both units conducted tactical insertion methods, with 1MEF executing a helo cast from a HSC-25 MH-60S Sea Hawk, and EODMU5 completing a static line jump from a VRC-30 C-2A Greyhound. After 1MEF conducted reconnaissance and secured the beach under the cover of darkness, EODMU5 utilized a cargo drop to access the beach and completed an Expeditionary Airfield Damage Repair evolution, clearing simulated submunitions. Exercises such as Valiant Shield allows the Indo-Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the Joint Force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
