Origin, Middleton, , by Wm. Crawford. Tree, vigorous, productive under favorable conditions. Fruit, large to very large, oblong ; suture, shallow ; apex, prominent, swollen : color,golden yellow, with rich red cheek. Flesh, yellow, sweet, rich, free from stone which often parts in middle when nearly ripe. Season, September 1st to 12th (1897). Quality, dessert and cooking, very good ; market value, best.
