He had beentwice married, and four of thechildren living at the time of hisdeath were grown up sons, the off-spring of his first union. Of thefive children by his second marriage, David H. wasthe youngest. Shortly after Mr. Jeromes death, hiswidow moved back to New York and settled inOnondaga County near Syracuse, where they remaineduntil the fall of 1834, the four sons by the first wifecontinuing their residence in Michigan. In the fallof 1834, Mrs. Jerome came once more to Michigan,locating on a farm in St. Clair County. Here tlieGovernor formed those habits of industry and ster-ling integrity that have been so characteristic of theman in the active duties of life.
