In 1902 he joinedthe staff of Railway and as associate editor, and in1908 became managing editor, which po-sition he held till 1911, when he wascalled by the Canadian Government tomake a comprehensive report on theshops, appliances, tools and equipmentnecessary for the Trans-Continental rail-way. t)n the completion of that work in1915, Mr. Hodgins joined the staff of theRailway Periodicals Company as manag-ing editor of the Raikvav Master Mc-. S. I10L)(;i.\S. chaiiic. The Railivay Engineering andMaintenance of,Way. In 1916 he returnedto Raii-w.\y and Locomotive Engineer-ing and remained on the stalT as editoruntil his death, besides contributing topopular science magazines. Mr. Hodgins was the third son of Hodgins, M. A., I. S. Minister of Education for On-tario. Me married Sarah Patterson, adaughter of the Hon. C. S. Patterson, ajustice of the Supreme Court of Canada,who survives him. His three brothers,Major General William E. Hodgins. G., Hon. Frank E. Hodgins Justiceof the Supreme Court of Ontario, and theRev. Frederic B. Hodgins, of New York,all survive him. .\s a writer on engineering and techni-cal subjects, Mr. Hodgins style wasmarked by an exact and comprehensivelucidity.
