The Great Wall of China at Mutianyu near Beijing
A well preserved section of the Great wall can be found at Mutianyu in Huairou County, some 73km northeast of Beijing. This part of the wall was built in 555AD during the Northern Qi Dynasty, and renovated and reinforced during the Ming Dynasty. This section is 2000 meters long, and has an excellent architectural style, with many unusual features. The wall incorporates battlements on each side and a tunnel for trapping enemy horses. There are 22 block towers, two of which stand side by side at Zhengguantai.
