James, , president of the Board of Regents, dated July16, 1902.) ^The Administration Building was erected by the citizensof Benton County, and with 39-J acres of ground was donatedto the State of Oregon, as an inducement to the people of theState to locate permanently the State Agricultural Collegeat Corvallis. It is a three story brick building containingfourteen rooms suitably arranged and well adapted forschool purposes. It is of the estimated value of $25, Administration Building. BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS. 17 It is situated on a small hill in a commanding position andis a beautiful, substantial and inn)osing building. *^The Agricultural Hall, which is a three-story Oregongray granite and sandstone building 85x125 feet, issituated about 150 yards southeast of the AdministrationBuilding. It is intended for an assembly hall for the Agri-cultural and Horticultural classes, laboratories and classrooms and for all purposes connected with agriculture andchemistry, dairying and the Experiment Station. It costabout $42, This is probably the best building onthe ground. ^^Mechanical Hall is located about 150 yards northeastof the Administration Building. It is constructed of Ore-gon gray granite and sandstone. It is two stories high,90x100 feet. It is a fine substantial building, well arrangedand admirably adapted for the purpose for which
