The parade also demanded there be a more welcoming attitude towards refugees and foreigners in Poland. When it first started, the parade was mostly about LGBT rights, but since then, has grown into a movement calling on absolute openness, acceptance and tolerance for all minorities in Poland. The parade was started in 2001 by Bishop Szymon Niemiec, former president of the International Lesbian and Gay Culture Association in Poland and now the leader of the Free Reformed Church of Poland.
