Perryshouse, the .City Hall, the fortificationsin the harbor, Fort Adams, Fort Wol-cott, Fort Brown, and its surroundingrocks called the Dumplings, etc. The chief picturesque attractions ofthe town and its immediate vicinity, arethe fine ocean shores, known as theFirst, the Second, and the Third is the First Beach which is chieflyused as a bathing ground by the New-port guests. At the Second Beach arethe famous rocks called Purgatory, andthe Hanging Rocks, within whoseshadow it is said that the celebratedBishop Berkeley wrote his MinutePhilosopher.
