Fisher Translocation Pilot Project. Federal and state wildlife biologists prepare to relocate a fisher, a small cat-sized mammal, from the Klamath Mountains near Yreka, Calif., to a Northern Sierra forest. Prior to the release of these fishers in 2008 when the pilot project began, fishers have not been found in the northern Sierra for nearly 100 years. In the spring of 2013, the offspring the fishers that have been relocated to the Sierra have now had offspring of their own. (
