SAINTS - PATRICK Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, driving the snakes (and, it seems, a frog) from Ireland. He was of British birth, and in his youth spent six years as the slave of Irish pirates, which explains his poor education. By 435 AD, he was working in Ireland, having settled at Armagh, from whence he began his missionary work. Process print, from Alban Butler's The Lives of The Fathers, Martyrs and Other Principles Saints, edition of circa 1928.
