PACIFIC OCEAN - (Jul. 22, 2017) Two Marine Corps Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV-P7/A1) prepare to depart the well deck aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) in support of UNITAS LVIII while the guided missile destroyer USS Chafee (DDG) anchors off the coast of Peru. UNITAS is an annual, multi-national exercise that focuses on strengthening our existing regional partnerships and encourages establishing new relationships through the exchange of maritime mission-focused knowledge and expertise during multinational training operations.
