Liver cell, TEM
Transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of the ultrastructural detail of a liver cell (hepatocyte), with part of the nucleus seen at right. In addition to many mitochondria and rough endoplasmic reticulum, the cytoplasm contains a significant supply of glycogen granules. Glycogen is a store of glucose accumulated from the blood. Magnification: x8,200 when printed at a width of 10cm.
