In a general way,the Taft administration woidd make the anti-trust law forbid combinations, conspiracies,and contracts to restrain trade with intentto monopolize interstate trade or \\ith intentto suppress competition therein. The idea isto get rid entirely of the question whethercombinations are reasonable or is intended to press these amendments ofthe interstate commerce and so-called anti-trust laws upon the attention of Congress thiscoming winter for thoroughgoing revision. Ifthe excellent proposals of the administrationcan be placed upon the statute books, it willbe a great triumph, and will atone somewhatfor the faults of the tariff.
