Crystals of varying types have long been revered by "New Agers" for the spiritual energy which they are believed to contain. Pictured here are various crystals set out to cleanse in the sunlight atop Airport Mesa in Sedona, Arizona, one of several energy vortices the area is known for. In the distant background is Bell Rock, also an energy vortex. Both Bell Rock and Airport Mesa are considered electric vortices, whereas the other vortices are either magnetic or electro-magnetic. Electric is associated with male, or yang, energy; magnetic is associated with female, or yin, energy; and electro-magnetic combines both.
