Tht: Beswarah Dam.—This dam is on the Kistna,about 60 miles from its mouth and near the head of thedelta, at a point where the river is shut in two ranges ofhills about 4,000 ft. apart. The depth of the river variesfrom 5 to 6 ft. in the dry season and to 30 and sometimes40 ft. during the monsoons. The dam consists of a mass of loose stone rising to aheight of 23 ft. above the lowest point of the bed and 14ft. above low-water level. The dam is in all 3,750 ft. long ;lK Wart-.
