Family 4.—Hysenidae.—Lastly, the H)UTinJLC comprise the hyrenas of Arctogoea, with more teeth than the Feluicc, but with no septum to the auditory bulla. The Cyjwidea have a larger number of teeth (|||§) and longer jaws than the yEluroidea, in correlation with which they are less strictly carnivorous. There is only a trace of an auditory septum, and the par-occipital process does not overlap the bulla. They are mostly digitigrade but never have retractile claws. The toes are usually f.
