The stained glass windows portraying Joan of Arc's life from seeing the Virgin Mary to her death at the stake at the Cathedral Sainte Croix in the city of Orleans, the capital of the Loiret department and of the Centre-Val de Loire region in France. It is about 130 km (80 miles) southwest of Paris. The Siege of Orleans in 1428-1429, marked a turning point in the Hundred Years' War. Joan of Arc made her reputation here by lifting the siege nine days after she arrived.
