Lilac-breasted rollers (Coracias caudata) are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula, preferring open woodland and savannah. They feed on grasshoppers, beetles, scorpions, other insects and occasionally on lizards. They hunt from a perch usually taking prey from the ground and are attracted to bushfires which cause insects to be flushed. Photographed in Etosha National Park in Namibia, Southern Africa.
