Penney Retirement Community is a 55+ Christian community located in the town of Penney Farms in NE Florida. Founded in 1926 by Penney, the department store magnate, PRC was based on Mr. Penney’s Christian background. The son of a minister, he knew that retired clergy and missionaries usually had no home, no savings and no source of income in those days. He established PRC as a haven for them. He built the Norman-style church and 98 cottages and invited retired church workers of all denominations to enjoy a caring lifestyle.
