Pair of bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) perched on a branch. This large eagle is found throughout North America, generally living close to water. It feeds mainly on fish, water birds and carrion, and can reach a length of around 75 centimetres. Despite its name it is not actually bald: its head is covered with white feathers. The bald eagle is the national symbol of the United States of America. Photographed in Minnesota, USA.
