The library was located on thenorthwest corner of Albany and NeilsonStreets. About 1820 another library wasfounded called the New Brunswick Li-brary Company, and a little later theUnion Library Company was merged intothis; and this library continued in fulloperation until nearly 1850. It then sus-pended operations and the books weretransferred to the Trustees of RutgersCollege. In 1868 these books were given to the Young Mens Christian As-sociation and were continued in circula-tion until 1 888. The New Brunswick Free CirculatingLibrary was organized in 1883 and oc-cupied a small frame house on the south-east corner of George and ChurchStreets, an illustration of which is shownin this book as the Schneewiss library
