Small town grain elevator along railroad tracks in north central Illinois. The venerable structure is still in operation as part of a farmers cooperative. Grain elevators though not as prolific as they once were still appear with great frequency in towns throughout the Midwestern United States, the major agricultural region of the country. At one time such structures were always located along railroad tracks to facilitate the shipment of crops to market via rail.
