Norse mill and kiln, Shawbost, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, 2009.

Norse mill and kiln, Shawbost, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, 2009. A pair of renovated thatched buildings that were used to grind barley into meal. Their design dates back to the time when the Vilings ruled Lewis, but these examples were probably built c1800. They were still in operation in the early 1930s.
