Electric Power Station. The power station is located in a central situation, convenientfor the lines of the whole system, and at the same time close to thewaters of Port Jackson, so that ample supplies of water are ob-tainable alongside for condensing purposes. The greatest distancewhich power has to be transmitted from the power station in anydirection is at present seven miles. At the present time there are installed in the power house 32tjoilcrs of the Babcock and Wilcox make, and additions arc inprogress. The boilers are arranged in two tiers. Each is rated at250 h. p., and has a heating surface of 2,852 sq. ft. B. & W. auto-matic chain grate stokers arc used, and the boilers are fed by coalconveyors, electrically driven. Small coal is used, brought fromlocal collieries, the nearest situated about .10 miles from the powerhouse. A siding leads from the railway into the power house, sothat no handling is necessary.
