Swimming should not be indulged in imme-diately before or after meals^ the best time being anhour before or from two to three hours after meals. 2. The water should not be entered when thebody is over-heated or wet with perspiration ;cramps or other more serious discomforts arelikely to result. 3. The body should be dried thoroughly andthe water should be entered by plunging in headforemost; if practicable, or by leaping. 4. Pupils should be cautioned not to stand inthe water to cool off, as doing so has an enervatingeffect. 5. While in the water the body should be keptin motion ; standing about after swimming isliable to cause chills. 6. When through swimming, the water shouldbe quitted at once and the body dried and dressedpromptly. 7. During instructions only those that are em-ployed should leave the dressing rooms; when it isnecessary to have more pupils than can be
