Specimens have been sent to me from canals near Tamiami Trail (U. S. Highway 41) at Palmetto Bypass and from i/o mile west of Coopertown. I have collected a few specimens from a roadside ditch on Sapelo Island, Mcin- tosh County, Georgia, and it is probable that the species will be found on other coastal islands. According to Walker (1903), specimens of this type were reported from Travis County, Texas. I have checked some of this material (ANSP 60132), and also shells from Hays, Kerr, Jackson, Victoria, and Mason counties, Texas, and find no great differences from the Florida specimens. Similar specimens, under a variety of names, were examined from the following localities: Mexico: Lake Patzcuaro; Lake La Prassa, Michoacan; Lake Xoehomilco; Coy R., S. Luis Potosi. Nicaragua: San Geronimo; Polvon. Guatemala: Quirigua; Tikal. British Honduras: Rio Hondo. Other specimens from Guadeloupe, W. I., Cuba, St. Croix, V. I., and Vieques Island (Puerto Rico) indicate a general Caribbean distribution, with entries into North America through Texas and Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original Harvard University.
