Street view of Rue de Sévigné with the Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis church (17th century) in the historic district of the Marais, Paris, France

The Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis Church is a splendid religious building located in the Marais district and was built between 1627 and 1641 on a project by Etienne Martellange and François Derand, on the orders of Louis XIII of France. Inaugurated in 1641 by Cardinal Richelieu, the church has a splendid dome, which was the model for the realization of other famous domes of Paris, such as that of the Pantheon and that of the Hôtel des Invalides. The building presents some fine works of art, among which the paintings "Christ in agony on the Mount of Olives" by Eugène Delacroix and "The death of Saint Louis" by Jacques de Létin, and the marble sculpture of the "Our Lady of Sorrows" by Germain Pilon. Of particular interest also the two holy water fonts donated by Victor Hugo.
