Esther Reed, American Patriot
Color enhanced illustration of Mrs. Esther Reed (1747-1780) known for forming the Ladies Association of Philadelphia to support the American Revolution. They raised over $7000, which they used to buy linen and sew clothing for the troops. Each volunteer seamstress sewed her name into the clothing she made. Over 2,200 shirts were made by the group.
