A somewhat novelfeature has been introduced in the platforms byfastening on the top of the regular platform floor-ing wooden strips 2 ins. wide, with y2 in. space be-tween them. These strips are similar to thoseused in the inside of the car but are run cross-ways instead of longitudinally. The object is todrain the water from the platforms, and they cer-tainly make a very dry and clean looking cars, which weigh 21,760 lbs. without pas-sengers and motors, are mounted on maximumtraction trucks and are fitted with portable vesti-bules.
