It is to be hoped that other west end and downtown stores will follow suit next year. The north and south sides will follow in line. The many friends of C. A. Kuehn and J. F. Ammann missed them greatly. This is the first picnic, it is believed, that these families have missed. President Vennemann, Secretary Deutschmann and Treasurer Pilcher, of the County Growers' Association, with their families, were on hand early and said they spent a most pleasant after- noon. The largest man present was Charles Connon and the largest lady was Mrs. Joseph Hauser. Their combined weight was something like 500 pounds. Web- ster Groves, where they both live, must be a healthy place. Jules Bourdet and W. S. Wells, the next president and vice-president of the Florists' Club, in company with President Pilcher and Vice-president Jaenicke, were out in full force, ming- ling with the crowd and generally show- ing themselves to be good fellows. Walter Young, who represented C. Young & Sons Co., is some worker and ladies' man. He was on the jump all day, assisting the trustees in all the events. Charles Wors spent the whole after- noon presiding over the guessing con- test table. For a sticker to one job on so hot a day, he deserves a medal.
