Mohammad Shafi Abid from Kabul, Afghanistan, spends time sitting on a slide for refugee children at the Temporary Transit Center in Tabanovce, north Macedonia in the border with Serbia. Mohammad and his wife, 4 months pregnant, arrived at camp a month and a half ago after spending about $ 15,000 paid to smugglers. Smugglers robbed them, beat them up and abandoned them in the countryside when it began to snow. Mohammad fled from Afghanistan after receiving death threats for working in Kabul for North American organizations. At the Temporary Transit Center in Tabanovce, north Macedonia in the border with Serbia, are staying just several dozen people after majority of refugees from Syrian origin (near one hundred people) were deported back last week to Greece after having spent about a year in the camp. Right now refugees comming from Pakistan, Afganistan and Magreb (Morocco and Argelia) are staying in the camp without knowing his future.
