Statue: Frederich der Grosse, 1740-1786, between 1910 and 1920. Frederick the Great was King in Prussia from 1740 until 1772, and King of Prussia from 1772 until his death in 1786. The statue was donated to the USA by Prince Henry of Prussia as a gift of friendship and gratitude. It was originally erected in 1904 at the Army War College in Washington, After attempts to destroy the statue, it was removed from public view during World War I.
