Porte des Allemands (German Gate), Metz, France, 16th century (1882-1884). One of the gates in the city walls of Metz. It was originally built in the 13th century, with two more towers added in the 1440s. Metz successfully resisted a siege by the army of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in 1552.
