A great deal ofDr. Northrops work was done with-out asking or expecting remunera-tion, and all of his work in thenegro schools was done in thisway. This southern work in 1897was almost his last work. He diedat Clinton, Connecticut, April 28,1898. This is a slight glimpse of the lifework of a good man, one who wasblessed in living to see the successfulaccomplishment of many of his usefuland noble endeavors.
