Papyrus of Ani portraying the judgment of the dead by Anubis

In this section of the so-called papyrus Ani, a text that dates to Egypt's 19th Dynasty (1293–1185 ) and includes the Book of the Dead (a text buried with the dead as an aid in the afterlife), the deceased, Ani, and his wife are the figures dressed in white. Ani's heart is being weighed on the scale by the jackal-headed god Anubis against the weight of a feather, representing truth.
