The Battle Creek Shops uf the (Jrand Trunk.—The distinguishing feature of this arrangementis the efficient use of the j-ard crane idea, extend-ing over the storehouse tracks and part of thestorehouse platforms. This crane serves all atthe ends of the bays of the machine and erectingshop; the foundry, forge shop and frog shop, andeventually can be extended over the car repairtracks. The midway space under the crane, which will be used partly for storage of materials,is provided with a system of industrial tracks, which are a part of a network extending through-out the entire plant.
