The image is of the 41metre tall Admiral Lord Nelson Britannia Monument memorial column. The monument was built in 1817 in memorial to Great Yarmouth's most famous son, Admiral Horatio Nelson and his sea battle victories during the era of Napoleonic Wars at The Nile, Copenhagen, St Vincent and the famous Battle of Trafalgar where Nelson defeated the combined French and Spanish ships where he was mortally wounded and died. The statue of Britannia when Britannia did rule the seas stands on top of the column looking towards Nelson's birthplace. Sadly this important memorial is now surrounded by industrial building.
