St Margaret's Bay is one part of the three part village St Margaret-at-Cliffe just off the coast road between Deal and Dover in Kent and is situated along and below the cliffs north of South Foreland. Channel swimmers and submarine telephone cables start from St Margaret's Bay. The lovely seaside village of St Margaret's is set in the heart of White Cliffs Country. It first appeared in the Domesday Book as "Sancta Margharita" and it has continued to play an important role in history throughout the centuries. From late Victorian times, St Margaret's developed as a holiday resort and coastal countryside retreat for the well-to-do.
