The growth in a period of four daysis so marked, has been so rapid, and is so clearly shown that a detailed ac-count of it is unnecessary. The reader has only to refer back to the picturetaken on June 26th to see all this personally. It may be well to state that in this series of pictures the young birds areportrayed as nearly as possible natural BLUE JAY. SEVENTEEN DAYS OLD. Two days later, on July 2d, the chicks walked about the artificial nestthat had been made for them, and constantly stood erect exercising the wingsby flapping them at short intervals. On the 3d of July they left the nest and could fly from perch to perch
