In 1870 he en-tered the employ of James Edmond & Co., manu-facturers and importers of fire-brick and sewer-pipein this city. Here he remained until 1877, whenhe formed a copartnership with George M. Fiske,who had also been in the employ of Edmond & Co.,under the firm name of Fiske & Coleman, for thesale of the same material. The business rapidlyincreased, and the operations of the firm soon em-braced the manufacture of fire-brick and architect-ural terra-cotta. Subsec|uently, the production of. E. B. COLEMAN. faience for exterior and interior decorations wasadded. In 1885 the firm became Fiske, Coleman,& Co., William Homes being then admitted. Attheir exhibition rooms.
