Sicily, Italy - 21 April 2018 Messina's Cathedral, first established during the Norman era in 1197, has had a long and violent history. Destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries, its main claim to fame is the mechanical astronomical clock housed in the bell tower. Built in 1933, and shown here, it is believed to be the most complex such device in the world.
