The other three sides are finished with narrower strips, with finer shelters. Along the long side with the narrower strip side, a mirrored narrow strip side is also sewn, which falls over the linen. The wide strip has a pattern with ten symmetrical slips in which a flowerpot inside voluntaries, with heart motifs in between. Around 1630 the flowerpot motif came a lot in the Flemish Clasps and was originally from Bartolomeo Danieli pattern books. The side is 'composed': the small motifs were broken piece and then sewn together. This technique came up at the end of the 16th century and is only associated with Brussels side. The Flemish lace clasps had a very fine linen thread at their disposal that made it possible to make very flexible richly decorated sides, which were ideal for the new flat collars that came up in fashion in the course of the first half of the 17th century. The narrow strip lace has a pattern of symmetrical slot from a nop with a fan-shaped head, with circular arches in between. These laces remained loved by a long time in the Republic and can be seen on portraits between 1620 and 1640.
