The Park is a triangular enclosurein the lower part of the city ; it has anarea of 11 acres, containing the CityHall and other buildings. It is embel-lished in its south part with a superbfountain, the basin of which is 100 feetin diameter. In the centre of the basinis a piece of work in the shape of anEgyptian lily. Through convex ironplates, with numerous perforations,placed around the base of this work, thewater is projected into the air, and fallsin the form of a heavy mist, around acolumn, that rises to a considerableheight, through the midst of the greenleaves of the lotus. 110 NEW YORK.
