The Hull tidal barrier rises above the Central Dry Dock, a graving dock in Hull. The 'South End Graving Dock' was in existence by 1784. The present dock was rebuilt in 1843-44, being renamed at some stage as the Central Dry dock which became a Grade II Listed Building in 1998.
