The ruins of Corfe Castle in Dorset England UK

One of the most spectacular medieval castles in England. Guarding a gap in the Purbeck hills known as Corvesgate, the current castle has it origins in Norman times. An earlier castle was the site of the murder of the saxon king Edward the Martyr. Much of the ruined state of the castle was because of the siege by parliamentary troops during the English Civil War in the seventeenth century.
