Garrya, Elliptica—An evergreen shrub indigenous to this State, with elliptical leaves, dark green and shining above, hoary beneath ; flowers yellowish, borne in elegant pendulous catkins succeeded by black berries. Grevillea, Robusta—A beautiful tree of rapid growth, with fern-like, dark green foliage and orange colored flowers. Heath, Mediterranean—A handsome, dwarf, compact-growing little evergreens with light feathery foliage and abundant purplish pink flowers in spring. Holly, European—A beautiful small tree, with prickly dark green foliage; grows moderately fast, and is covered during the winter months with bright red berries. The variegated varieties are remarkably handsome lawn plants; the leaves are variously marked with yellow or white, and some are very curiously shaped; habit of growth similar to the European. We ofler the following distinct sorts :— ' Golden Queen—Leaves large, much mottled with gray and green, and with a broad, well defined, continuous margin of deep golden yellow. A very handsome form and said to be the finest of the golden-edged type. ' Golden-Margined—Leaves splashed with pale green; narrow but irregular golden edge.
