Two Fijians squat on matting at a tourist show to serve Fiji's national drink, Yaqona, also called Kava in Fiji in the South Pacific. Yaqona or Kava is drunk in parts of the South Pacific. It has an important place in all Fijian ceremonies and is used widely as a token of goodwill and respect amongst the South Pacific People. The beverage is prepared by straining powder made from pounded dried roots (Fijian waka) and dried base stems ( Fijian lewena with water, commonly, through a muslin cloth. Traditionally Yaqona is strained through specially prepared plant strands s the wild hibiscus bush - Fijian vaudins
