Illustration of hormone therapy treatment which involves : - either inhibiting hormone production in the case of an early tumour (for example the production of sexual hormones in the case of breast cancer), on the left of the illustration. - Or blocking the action of the hormones in hormonodependent cells, using tamoxifen, a molecule that latches on to the cancer cell oestrogen receptors. Tumour growth is halted and/or the cancer cell dies.
